Why So Serious? (::still flailing::)

Fri Jul 18, 2008, 12:47 AM
OMG, just got back from the midnight showing of BATMAN :: THE DARK KNIGHT!!!

I'm not going to spoil anything in it because I think all of you need to get your butts out to the theatre to see this shizz on the big screen ASAP. They did just about everything right and everything you hear about Heath Ledger being a show stealer is completely true and then some. Granted, I've always been a big Joker fan (his take on reality is something I actually find both compelling and familiar), but seriously, it's like blahblahJOKERblahblahJOKER. Really, Ledger's performance here truly defines not only what we lost in an actor as an individual but also what we've lost in actors on the whole. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if I had the Bat Underpants Hawk and I have been rabidly discussing for the past week XDD My other thought on the movie experience? Well, I wish I knew how to explain how I made friends with this one guy, but now that I'm trying to type it, I can't. But there was booze and a coffee cup. I think ¬_¬

Though as just an OMG aside, probably more exciting than the actual *movie* was the fact that we finally got a trailer for THE WATCHMEN. For the past I don't even know how long, poor <lj user="klingonpoo"> has put up with me squeeing and speculating over the fact they're making a film of one of my fave comics ever, but finally seeing it all being put in motion... I hardly knew what to do with myself. So much of it looks exactly like it does in the comic, and the trailer is sleek and sexy and dark. I can't even maybe wait. I'll just go back to rewatching the trailer a hundred times...

[watch the trailer omg do it do it click now bitches O__O]

Anyway, for once, I'm actually kind of tired, so I'm hitting the sack, but keep an eye out for something shiny. I mean, I have to thank the people who've so graciously landed me almost 2,500 hits on dA in the past three months somehow, right? Ohhh, why so serious? *maniacal giggles*

OMG, I KNOW, right? Holy freakin CRAP! It's the EPITOME of all that is what a truly EPIC movie SHOULD be!

Heath, omg, his performance was AMAZING! It makes me more sad that he's dead now D:

Also, midnight showings are the greatest. We had a Joker in the lobby, locked in "jail" *a cage with police tape on it*, talking to people as they went by XD people in joker face paints and batman masks. And OMG! HARVEY DENT! (not saying more for the others' sakes)

The trailer won't load properly, but from what I saw, it looked pretty good! The music was great, anyway.

So yeah, what's with the new batman movie? Haven't seen much about it yet!

I've lost my mind. If you find it, please give it back.

Ohh, you need Quicktime. I posted a YouTube version of it on my LJ if you want to seeeeee!! The song is an obscure Smashing Pumpkins song, but it fits so well =3

All the reviews I've read so far pretty much are on par with my feelings on it, which were that Heath Ledger was so good as the Joker that the rest of the movie almost seems like filler between his scenes. He's just... breathtaking. Also I :heart: the Joker to begin with, so :love:

Well, to be honest, I thought that all the spaces around the Joker were almost like filler, lol. I'm not sure if it's because Ledger was so *good* or if the rest of the movie was just a little lackluster. I'll probably have to watch it again more analytically now that the squee has subsided a bit.

Oh man, awesome! Where did you see it? I saw it here in NYC and we didn't have much more than a couple fist fights over seats and line spaces, hahaha. Though when I grew up in Washington DC, first showings at the biggest screen in the city were always intense, people lining up weeks in advance XDD

As for Harvey Dent, I say that anyone who knows anything about Batman really shouldn't be all that surprised with what happens. If you *don't* know anything about Batman, then tough tacos, it's your fault for not even knowing anything about the recurring characters =3 [/being an ass] :XD:

We're (all twelve of us, ugh) leaving as soon as I get off work! I can't wait! :D
